thanks, Robert, I now understand why A is too broad to be the correct answer, the stimulus gave us that fashion can influence price, but did not go so far as to say that being fashionable is more important than the materials to the pricing of the products. Products made of gold is always more expensive than similar products made of wood because of their materials, even though being fashionable can influence the price from time to time.

thanks again for your explanation.

The question stem indicates that the principle is already an implicit part the stimulus. The facts as given are conforming to a certain principle. That's why it's more like a Must Be True than it is like a Strengthen. This is different from a question that asks for a principle that would, if valid, support the argument. In that case, the stem makes clear that the correct answer will add to the argument, even if it's not already an implicit basis for the argument.

For another reason, there really isn't anything to strengthen in the stimulus, because there is no argument, just a collection of facts. It's what the facts tell us that matters, not what would support those facts, because facts don't really need support.

In the end, though, I find that on questions like this, it matters less how you label the type of question, and more on what you determine you should be looking for. Whether you see this as a form of Must Be True, or whether you see it as a type of Strengthen, in either case you should be looking for something like "fashion sometimes affects costs."
