Hello miak,

Not necessarily (so to speak). "I will go to the ice cream store" is a sort of declaration of intention, but not a "necessary condition" per se.
If, however, "will" were in a context like "If I go to the ice cream store, then I will eat 10 scoops and get very fat", then "will" would be part of the necessary condition, showing what must necessarily happen when I visit the ice cream store.

Hope this helps,
David

Miak,,

You're absolutely correct. The word "then" indicates a necessary condition. Everything after the word "then" is the necessary condition. You can review the Sufficient and Necessary Condition Indicators in any PowerScore course or logical reasoning book (page number will depend on which book you are using).

In David's example, the word "will" is part of the necessary condition. It is part of the verb "will eat." It implies some future action. Consider these two statements:
If I go to the ice cream store, then I will eat 10 scoops and get very fat.
If I go to the ice cream store, then I ate salad for dinner last night.

Neither the word "ate" or "will eat" make it a necessary condition. The word "then" is the Necessary Condition Indicator. Hope this helps!
