Hello,

Re:
Logical Reasoning Question Type Training Workbook (Chapter 2: Must Be True Questions)
Question #48 (Jennifer's paid vacation time)

While choice A) is correct, aren't choices A) and D) the same?
A) "Jennifer did not use two weeks of the paid vacation time to which she was entitled last year"
D) "Last year, Jennifer took only one week of the paid vacation time to which she was entitled"

A) and D) appear to represent the same scenario, where there is 1 wk from year three that can carry over to year four:
Year 2: 3 wks
Year 3 ('last year'): 1 wk (1 wk can carry over to year 4, if desired)
Year 4 ('this summer'): 4 wks (i.e., 3 wks from year 4 + 1 wk carried over from year 3)

Why is choice D incorrect?

Thank you for your time.

Hi RJF,

Thanks for the question! For starters I'm going to refer you to a prior discussion of this same problem, at lsat/viewtopic.php?t=8444. Let's start there and see if that helps clear this up. If not, I'll come back and go deeper with this problem.

Thanks!

Hello Dave,

Thank you for re-directing me (I wasn't aware that such a thread already existed).

If I understand correctly, while D) could be true, A) must be true, therefore making A) the correct option for the MBT scenario. This is a great reminder of why paying attention to the question stem is so important (..a reminder I clearly needed!).

Thanks for your help and your time!
