We recently received the following question from a student. An instructor will respond below. Thanks!
i have been preparing for the LSAT in three weeks - i have read your three books and have been doing prep tests twice a week. I have developed a strategy for the logic games and for the reading comprehension, my question is regarding logical reasoning.

The first 19 - 20 questions i miss 2-4 depending, but the last 5-6 questions i just tank - i find i get to question 20 with about 10 - 8 minutes left so i have time but something is going on with those questions or with me potentially. (this is consistent in that i have this same pattern with 10 practice exams so far)

Hi,

Thanks for the message! There are a few possible explanations for the phenomenon you describe:

  • 1. Fatigue. You could be getting tired as you approach the end of each section.

    2. Mentality. you might be tensing up as you approach the end, especially as you now see it as an issue.

    3. Difficulty. Questions at the end of each LR section tend to be more difficult, and your performance could simply be a reflection of this.

Any of the above could explain this, or it could be a combination of factors. If you'd like to test it, do a few LR sections in reverse order and see what happens. If the same phenomenon occurs when you reverse it, you know it's fatigue or mentality, not difficulty :) That could help get you on a path to understanding what's happening.

Thanks!
