While I agree that the word "often" in Answer D is enough to eliminate it, this answer still wouldn't be the best answer compared to Answer E.
While this is categorized as a Must Be True (Principle) question, you're really looking for the generalization that best matches the specific details in the stimulus.
What the stimulus shows is how people's perception of a given situation affects their view of that situation. This is best captured in Answer E.
Answer D doesn't address the role perception plays in the stimulus and therefore really misses the key detail/point of what the stimulus illustrates.
As a reminder, it's very important to prephrase the answer to these types of questions. A good prephrase here that captures how people's perceptions about what is effectively the same situation impacts their views will go a long way to solving this question and selecting Answer E.
