Clarifying Conditional Statements

Hello,

I am using PowerScore LSAT Logic Games Bible 2017 Edition, focusing on page 55. Why is the answer for number 3 invalid? I thought the reasoning was that if a sufficient condition occurs, you automatically know that the necessary condition also occurs, every time. Can you please explain?

Hi EPerry,

Thanks for the question! Take close look at #3: it says that John did not receive and A+, so in this case the sufficient condition did not occur. Thus, to conclude that the necessary also did not occur is an error.
