On page 34 there is a Rule Diagramming Drill. The second rule on the page is as follows: "Z is selected during one of the first two days." In the answer key (pg. 36) the rule is diagrammed like a conditional rule; the same is true of rule four of this drill. Are these conditional statements?

Thanks for the message. Take a look at the diagram to that problem on page 36. On the diagram itself, the rule is represented as Z/ and /Z as previously discussed. The “Z --> 1 or 2” notation is placed off to the side to reinforce the fact that Z has to go into one of those two slots. The choice is yours as to whether or not to show that rule representation. Some people do, and some people just use the Z/ and /Z notation. It totally depends on the person, but I wanted to show both for purposes of full coverage of the concept.
