Could you explain the difference between C and E? I knew the author is supportive of idea that preserving heirloom varieties and their methods will be a good step to preserve varieties of crops genes.

Is C wrong because the author is not proposing himself but explaining what is already existent and supporting it?

Hi silver2731!

The main difference between (C) and (E) is that (C) refers to a solution being proposed, while (E) refers to an existing solution - or one that has already been proposed. So, you hit the bullseye with your question! (C) is wrong because the author is not proposing the solution, but rather is supporting a solution that already exists.

We find evidence for this in the first paragraph of the passage, which discusses how 'agricultural researchers, development experts, and policy makers' are looking for methods of conservation, which have been existent in indigenous communities 'many generations.' So, we can see that this solution has been present for quite some time in indigenous communities!

I hope this helps! :)
