How to ace Reading Comprehension

Hi Powerscore!

I am having a bit of trouble with the reading comprehension section I got a 13 on my first diagnostic test in reading comp. Then when I took my second practice test I got a 18. Even though an 18 is not bad I still want to improve but I dont know how do. Some videos are saying that active reading is the best way and taking notes in the margin. However even though I have extended time i'm on a time crunch. Others say that scanning and skimming are the best was to improve in reading comprehension. I want to know what is the best technique to improve in reading comprehension?

It sounds like you may benefit from working one on one with a tutor. There are different ways to bring up your score and a tutor will be able to work with you to find a method that will work best for you. Active reading is certainly going to be something that we strongly recommend, skimming and scanning will not help you to fully understand what you are reading, and true comprehension is what this section is testing. But beyond that suggestion it is difficult to know what would help you to improve your score without knowing what you are having trouble with. You also mentioned that you have extended time, so it will be important that your tutor has an understanding of accommodations.
