Earlier today we were asked the following:

"Hi, I took the LSAT last fall and earned a 163. I'm looking to take it again in June if possible and am hoping to increase my score by at least 7 points. I'm a teacher and will be out of town for 2 weeks in the upcoming months. Do you recommend taking it in June? Or waiting until this Fall. If so, what kind of tutoring schedule do you recommend? Thanks a bunch for your help."

Thank you for your questions, an instructor will answer shortly! :)

Hello there!

It is difficult to give personal recommendations without more information about how you studied for the last test or where you feel you need the most improvement, but I can offer some general options. You have 11 weeks until the June test, and is definitely possible to improve your score quite a bit during that time, especially with individual tutoring! To start with, you might consider a Powerscore accelerated course (16 hours). You can take those in person (if available) or online. In particular, if you have never used Powerscore materials, a class can be a helpful way to familiarize with our methods and approach to taking the LSAT. Then when you work with a tutor, you will already be comfortable with the language that we use to describe concepts that come up again and again on the test. There is a tutoring discount for students. Then, one of the best things to do is to take real LSATs and go over them with your tutor. You should be reviewing them on your own, and then you and your tutor can discuss specific questions that gave you trouble. Your tutor will be able to show you how each and every question can teach you skills to use on future questions. Some students like to do a full practice test each week and then meet with their tutor weekly at a regular time. Others prefer to do two practice tests each week. Tutoring is flexible and individualized to your schedule and study needs.

We also have Full-Length live and online courses, and you can supplement with tutoring between sessions. When you are a full-length student, you will have access to a Homework Hotline, but these phone calls are capped at 15 minutes per day, and you might not get the same person each time.

Remember, you can always study for the June test and then make an informed decision to change your test date based on your current practice scores and how much you feel you can improve. You can make that decision with your tutor's input.

Hope that helps, and good luck! Sounds like you know what you want, and you'll work hard to get there!
