Hello,

I have a question about the stylus that is given along with the tablet; Does the stylus allow you to circle and mark up the stimulus at all? When taking a practice test on an iPad, I found myself performing differently because I could not interact with the stimulus as I normally do on paper tests.

Thank you!

Hi Carolyn,

No, it does not :( You can underline or highlight, and that's it as far as actual marks on the problem. There is no freehand marking of any sort.

If you are in one of our full courses, you can access our digital platform, which has 20+ digital PrepTests, and if not, we'll likely make that available to all students in a few weeks for a minimal per test cost (because of licensing fees, sigh).

But the interaction is totally different, and we discussed that at length on our LSAT PodCast, episodes 19, 20, and 25, among the most recent ones.

Thanks!

Highlighting and underlining is good!

Thanks for responding, Dave!

I've heard (as confirmed on the podcast) that the stylus is a sad piece of technology, if it can even be called that. What are the odds that students can or eventually will be able to bring their own stylus to the test?

Hi Leela,

I'd say that the chances are extremely low, less than 1%. The reason is simple: LSAC doesn't want people bringing in any form of technology, and a stylus could be used to "hide" certain tech such as a camera, and they want no part of that. LSAC is very concerned about cheating (and rightly so), and this is why phones aren't allowed. To let student bring in their own styluses? I can't see it, ever :(

Thanks!
