Complete Question Explanation
(The complete setup for this game can be found here: lsat/viewtopic.php?t=6469)

The correct answer choice is (E)

The question stem indicates that T and Z appear in a photograph. As discussed before, because Z is a random you should ignore Z in your consideration of who can and cannot appear together in a photograph. Consequently, let’s revisit what we know about T:

Thus, when T is in a photograph, then W, S, and U cannot appear in that photograph. Consequently, answer choice (E) must be correct.

Another way of thinking about this question would be to apply the fourth rule and conclude that when T is in a photograph then W is not in that photograph. Then, using the contrapositive of the first two rules, we can conclude that when W is not in a photograph, then S is not in that photograph, and U is not in that photograph.

Answer choice (A): This answer is incorrect because S cannot appear in any photograph that T appears in.

Answer choice (B): This answer choice is incorrect because although Y could appear in a photograph with T, Y does not have to appear in a photograph when T is in that photograph.

Answer choice (C): This answer is incorrect because W cannot appear in any photograph that T appears in.

Answer choice (D): This answer choice is incorrect because although R does not have to appear in a photograph with T, R could appear in a photograph when T is in that photograph.

Note also the language used in the five answer choices: the first three answer choices specify variables that must appear with T (positive relationships), whereas the last two answers specify variables that cannot appear with T (negative relationships). Always make sure to read each answer choice closely, because the addition of “not” changes the entire meaning of the answer choice!

I am having issues understanding question 14. I thought B was the correct answer. I think I missed an inference. Which rule would help solve this question. Thanks in advance!

Hi, BRCI,

I made the following setup, notice that W out implies S out which implies U out, which leads to the correct answer, E. I hope this helps!
