I found this game fairly easy, especially with the two templates I drew and so was surprised to find I got this one incorrect. I'm attributing it to a misunderstanding of the question stem and wanted to clarify.

I selected A, for 2, thinking that, based on my two templates, the only possible pairings could be G as the pilot S as the copilot and L as the pilot and C as the co-pilot.

Is the answer C, 4 because the question stem was asking for the total amount of pairings possible?

I'm wondering if your templates might be a little bit too restrictive here. With G as the pilot for flight 4, any of the copilots could fly on flight 4 except for U (who has to fly with L). So flight 4 could have: GR, GS, or GT (3 possible different pilot/copilot teams, with G as pilot).

Of course, as you noted, L could also be the pilot for flight 4, in which case U would have to be the copilot (so there is 1 possible different pilot/copilot team, with L as pilot).

That gives us 4 total possibilities.
