Complete Question Explanation
(The complete setup for this game can be found here: lsat/viewtopic.php?f=332&t=3599)

The correct answer choice is (E)

If R evaluates X during week 1 and F during week 2, the setup appears as:

G3-Q15-d1.png

However, several inferences can be drawn from the above information:

1.     In order to conform to the first rule, J must evaluate F during week 1.
2.     Due to the effects of the second rule, the textbook evaluated by R during week 3 must be evaluated by J after week 3. Since J evaluates X           during week 4, that means that only weeks 5 and 6 are available for that textbook to be evaluated. And, because J’s week 6 is already occupied           by whatever book R evaluates during week 5, we can determine that the textbook evaluated by R during week 3 will be evaluated by J during           week 5:
G3-Q15-d2.png

Thus, J must evaluate G and H, not necessarily in that order, during weeks 2 and 3:

G3-Q15-d3.png

Consequently, answer choice (E) could be true and is correct.

**This question has been split**

Having some trouble with questions 15 (the 5th question in the set).

I have the correct set up for this question, but I see both D and E being correct.

Someone please explain?

Thank you!

Hi,

Thanks for writing in.

For week 1, Rosenberg reviews X, which Juarez will then review 4th, as stated in the rules. Since Rosenberg reviews F 2nd, the soonest Rosenberg can review another advanced text besides X will be third. We know from the rules that Juarez can not review an advanced text until Rosenberg does, and therefore, to review something each week, weeks 1-3, Juarez will need to review all of the introductory books. That is, Juarez can not review X yet, or anything else advanced yet, so this means that both G & H will be reviewed early on (2nd and 3rd, in some order, given that F will be first, so that Rosenberg can review it 2nd). This is why G can not be 5th, and therefore D is incorrect, leaving only E as a correct option.

To visualize we know that Rosenberg will proceed like this:

X F _ _ _ _

Juarez will be like this:

F G/H H/G X Y/Z Y/Z
1 2 3 4 5 6

Hope this helps!

Beth
