Complete Question Explanation
(The complete setup for this game can be found here: viewtopic.php?f=393&t=1212)

The correct answer choice is (C)

Answer choices (A) and (B) can quickly be eliminated because they violate the second rule. Answer choices (C), (D), and (E) are similar in nature, but note that (D) and (E) place two variables in three years, whereas (C) places two variables in only two years. Theoretically then, answer choice (C) is less restrictive and one would expect that (C) is far more likely to be correct than (D) or (E). This is especially so if you realize that on an abstract level each clan is more or less the same, as is each year.

Answer choice (C) is ultimately correct, and our patterns reveal that two of the clans that participate in the first year will also participate in the third year. Oddly, if you examine the question stem to question #24, you will note that this question stem provides sufficient information to correctly choose (C) in question #19.
