Hi! I have a quick question regarding timing on ID the conclusion question. If you were stuck on time would you hurry though the stimulus ?

I know PS promotes reading the stimulus over reading the question first, but I read the Q first. It’s really helpful for me, but anyway knowing that this is an ID question and the the first two sentences clearly indicate what the conclusion would you recommend going to straight to the answer choices if you’re stuck for time?

KG!,

Hurrying through the stimulus to save time would be the worst idea possible. The less well you understand the stimulus, the more time you'll be taking trying to untangle the answers.

Further, the most important thing about any stimulus that's an argument is its conclusion. There's no way reading this question first could actually change my behavior - what would it do? Make me identify the conclusion of the argument? That's an objective for every stimulus with an argument. So that would be a thing you're doing anyway while reading the stimulus first. I thus don't see any advantage to be gained by reading the question first here - it's actually a really bad example for that point, because reading the question first wouldn't actually change your approach at all. Every time you have an argument, you must identify its conclusion. That's not just for Main Point questions - it's essential for Weaken, Strengthen, Justify, Assumption, Method, Method - Argument Part, Flaw, Parallel, Evaluate, and even some Point at Issue and Point of Agreement questions! So I don't need to know it's Main Point to pay special attention to the main point.
