#5 - Hernandez: I recommend that staff cars be replaced

So, I got question 5 in this section wrong. I selected answer choice "E" over "A'. In approaching the question, I easily eliminated answer choice B, C, and D. So, I know this is a question that is looking to see the method in which Hernandez uses to respond to Green's comment. I thought that It was "E" because Greg just said that big territories wear out their cars he was not specific. But, now looking back on it. I see that Greg responded that way because Hernandez initial statement was not specific. So, the second response of Hernandez was to clarify something he said earlier. I think what through me off is the wide way in which the test makers were able to paraphrase they way he responded.

Hi! You definitely correctly understand why your answer was incorrect. In this passage, Green did not use a phrase ambiguously (E). In fact, it was Hernandez who was ambiguous in saying "staff" when he meant "staff without large territories"--which you caught. For answer (A), the LSAT uses "qualify" as meaning "limit." This can be paraphrased more confusingly (but still accurately) in (A). The LSAT likes to word correct answers confusingly at times, but this is a way of saying "He is further limiting something he said earlier."
