Hi President,

It doesn't matter if the pheromones are the same or different from other animals' pheromones because they all could be signifying food, or understood by the animals to be different. Answer choice (A) tells us that hungry caterpillars are more likely to follow the heavily marked routes, which are also the routes that are connected to known food sources. That supports the idea that the pheromones are communicating information because the caterpillar is acting based on seeming awareness of the information.
