How do you show that variables are equal with the new sequencing symbols. Also, how would you show if two variables are greater than two other variables? (Lesson 1 HW)

Hi, L4L,

Are you referring to two variables occupying the same place in a sequence? If so, you would need to use a rectangle block to indicate simultaneity or the same location, in the event that they must always be in the same place. In the event that they could occupy the same place but not necessarily, the existing symbols do not rule out simultaneity if the game does not rule this possibility out.

For instance, given:

J :longline: M

and

J :longline: N

It is possible that M and N are simultaneous, if this is possible in the game.

For variables sequenced in higher or lower numbered slots, you would need to consider first what greater means. Does it mean that they are closer to the front, closer to "1," or that they occupy a higher numbered slot?

If you are faced with a situation such as the following:

"Runners J K L M N are in a race and the order in which they finish is governed by the following restrictions"

You would represent a sequencing rule similar to that which you described as follows:

"Runners J and K each finish before runners M and N"

Sorry for the crummy text diagramming here, but simply you need to indicate that J and K are both independently ahead of both M and N while leaving open the possible orders of J vs K and M vs N.
