I'm having a hard time correctly answering "complete and accurate list" questions, specifically in linear and advanced linear games. Are there any strategies for answering these questions in general, or should I just identify these questions as a difficult one for me and skip them until the end?

Hi Madeline,

Thanks for the question! This type of question is still a List question, and so there are several complementary methods to solving these:
  • 1. Push the question until the end of the game.

Because seeing as many scenarios as possible is helpful to solving these questions, push them back in the question stream until the end of the game. That way you can refer to work done on prior questions to help confirm or disconfirm certain listed variables.

    2. Use the rules to eliminate any answers that contain violators.

This is straight form the List question playbook: use the rules and scenario information to eliminate any answers that don't conform the the specifications of the game.

    3. Use Hypotheticals.

If the first two steps above still leave you with two or more contenders, use a hypothetical to prove or disprove an individual answer. simply identify the "extra" or different variable int he answer and test that (this advice depends on the exact nature of the question of course).
Using those steps above should help you solve most of these questions pretty efficiently!

Please let me know if that helps. Thanks!

Dave:

Thank you so much for your advice! I've been employing these three tactics over the last few days and had a lot more success, especially just by pushing the question to the end. Thank you for answering, the PowerScore books and online forums have been extremely helpful in raising my LSAT practice score, and I'm excited to tackle this test on February 4th!
