Hi PowerScore,

How can we determine that answer choice (C) is incorrect? I understood the principle to be more or less what Michiko was saying, namely that you are responsible for something if you understood the risk. If the police issued a report, and Colleen ignores it, wouldn't that mean that she disavowed the risk?

Is the problem with this answer choice that we cannot assume she actually read it?

Hey Deck,

Good question! This is a tricky one (especially for so early in the section), and the difference between (A) and (C) revolves around this phrasing that Michiko used: "...consequences of actions that they voluntarily undertake" (italics added). Ultimately, then, this difference between these two answers will come down to taking an action vs not taking an action.

In (A), note how she took an action: she went to the Eiffel Tower one more time. She decided to actively go do something ("undertake" it), and then paid a price.

In (C), note that she failed to do something: she didn't take the precautions (and indeed, maybe she never read it, although that's not the key here).

That may seem a thin difference, but it is a difference, and that's how LSAC sees it here.
