It's not saying that advertising slots cost more, but advertising time costs more. Longer slots would make sense to have a longer cost. But that doesn't mean the time would be more expensive. 60 seconds of time would still cost the same as 60 seconds of time. The slots would just be longer. That doesn't really strengthen the idea that the time would be just as profitable for advertisers. It's not clear why advertisers would want fewer options for the length of the advertising slot.
