Hi Brown,

This is a resolve except question, which means the incorrect answer choices all resolve our paradox, while the correct answer choice will not resolve the paradox.

The paradox is that while nicotine causes heart attacks and high blood pressure, smokers who don't chew tobacco have a much higher risk of heart attack/high blood pressure than nonsmokers who are exposed to the same amount of nicotine by chewing tobacco. We want to explain why one group has such a higher risk than the other given that their nicotine exposure is the same.

Answer choice (C) explains the paradox by giving a way that the two groups are different aside from the method of getting nicotine. Tabacco chewers tend to lead healtier lives than smokers. This would explain why smokers have a higher incidence of heart attacks and high blood pressure.

Hope that helps!
