Answer choice (B) actually has no impact on the claim at the end of the passage. There are a few reasons for this.

1. The answer choice does not specify a time frame and is unclear if it is stating there were few that came before the works in question or few that came after.

2. The works noted in the answer choice could be the works discussed in the passage.

3. Critical acclaim does not mean that there were none published. The quality or acclaim of the books that followed those in the passage is irrelevant to if the style in the relevant books was influential. Even if it wasn't influential on critically acclaimed books, it easily could be influential on autobiographies as a whole.

Hope that helps!
