For this question, I chose D. The reason I selected D is because the passage are showing the benefits of using parallel computing: Passage A discusses the benefits with climate prediction and passage B talks about parallel computing to solve problems that are inherently parallel in nature. They are both suggesting that the sequential processing of traditional computing is being replaced for large scale computing problems, which is the message I got out of the passage.

The correct answer choice, B, indicates that they "argue" that a new approach to computing is an effective way to solve a difficult problem. I didnt sense anytime of argument in either of these passages. Would you be able to explain why B is correct.

I'd quibble with answer choice (D) as I don't think the passages support the idea that "most" large-scale computing problems are now being solved by parallel computing. I recognize that the word "argue" in answer choice (B) may not feel completely accurate, but that might be just the use of "argue" as an aggressive verb. Argue here is being used for "advocate" or "support." They both state that parallel computing can solve some problems, and provide support for that idea. That's the argument. A position and support for that position is the argument provided by each passage. Passage A uses a specific scenario of climate scenarios, while Passage B talks about complex problems more generally.
