Hello,

I was lucky to get this one correct, but I am not fully sure about proving the first half of the correct answer (A), which states that the author suggests injunctions create problems for employees.

I understand that the author in lines 11-15 discusses how others have argued about the restrictiveness of the psychological barriers, but I guess I don't see the author necessarily suggesting that is so. Am I setting too high a bar for what the author suggests?

Thank you!

Hi Noelfranco,

You're right to note that the passage states "It has been argued that ... they are hardly effective in upholding the individual's rights to free employment decisions" (lines 13-18). The phrase "it has been argued that" indicates that someone other than the author is making that argument, and the author may or may not agree with the argument that follows (often the author will disagree). Here, however, the author agrees with this argument that these injunctions create problems for employees.

The clue to the author's view on this appears in the sentence that immediately follows. The author states, "But it is also doubtful that they are effective in preserving trade secrets" (my emphasis) (lines 19-20). The word "also" in this sentence indicates that the author agrees with the prior claim and is adding a second claim/problem with these injunctions.
