Hi J,
Lines 27ish weren't discussing a characterization of Asian-American literature, but instead were describing a particular poem. Answer choice (C) is well supported from line 5 or so, where the author specifically notes that generational conflict is a common theme in Asian American literature.
These concept reference questions can be tricky, because often you'll have answer choices that were mentioned in the passage, but do not do what the question says they should do. You'll recognize words or phrasing, as you did with answer choice (E), and it can be tempting to pick it. In fact, answer choice (E) matches the wording of the passage a bit closer than our correct answer (C). That's intentional. They want you to see the language, remember that it's familiar, and pick it. But the concept being discussed is a closer match with answer choice (E). Generational conflict sounds different than conflicts between different age groups, but essentially describes the same idea. It just looks and feels less familiar because it used different terminology.
Hope that helps!
