Hello,

I see that (A) is mentioned in passage B but not passage A. I also want to confirm why the same can't be said for (D) due to evidence in the second paragraph of passage B. Is it because the author doesn't explicitly attribute the discovery of new pharmaceuticals to industrial research? Rather, in this paragraph, the author seems to draw more of a connection between basic research and pharmaceuticals.

Thank you!

Hi Tami!

I would say that answer choice (D) is wrong more so because it is something that is also mentioned in passage A:

"The growth of industrial biotechnology, for example, has been accompanied by a reduction in the free sharing of research methods and results-a high price to pay for the undoubted benefits of new drugs and therapies."

The line ties industrial research to new pharmaceuticals (drugs). Thus, since answer choice (D) is mentioned in passage A, it cannot be the correct answer!

Hope this helps!

Best,
Kelsey
