Applying to too many schools?!

Hi,

I'm really struggling with the number of schools to apply to. As of right now, I have 50 active applications! They're all at least 50% complete and they're all pretty standard so it's not difficult, but I'm worried about the schools that ask you to list all the schools I'm applying to. Does it look bad to apply to that many? Am I crazy for applying to that many?

I'm applying to so many because my GPA is suuuuper low (2.8) but my highest LSAT is alright (160). I've also been told by a bunch of attorneys that it's best to apply to as many as I can. Should I cut the number of schools I'm applying to or is it not that big a deal?

Hey Badarm,

My first reaction is, Whoa, that's wayyyy too many schools! However, given your situation, I understand what you are strategically attempting to do. It only takes one higher-ranked school to take a chance on you, and it looks like you are going to play the field. I would still say you should take a close look at each school and cull the ones you would never attend when they are stacked up against some of your safety schools, and then also kill the schools (if any) where you don't have a realistic chance (is Harvard on that list? They should be pulled, sorry to say ). But, the bottom line is that if you want to apply to a high number of schools, there's no actual harm in doing so aside from the app fees!
