Hello all,

I am just curious to know about potential transfers after year one of law school. What is required? I know that your grades/transcript are considered from the potential school, but do they consider your LSAT score and/or undergraduate GPA when considering transfer admission?

Any information helps!

Thank you,
Sabrina

Hi Sabrina,

They look at everything again as context, but it is your law school grades/class rank—far and away—that make the biggest difference. This is why we always counsel students to not attend a school on the presumption of transferring. 1L grades can be tricky, and if you don't adapt well to the grading process, you can end up with grades that don't allow for a transfer (law school is a culture shock for most people, to be honest).

So the hard and fast rule is never attend a school you wouldn't be happy graduating from. Then, no matter what happens you will be fine.

Thanks!
