Thanks for the message, and congrats on the great score!

1. No, they don't :)

2. The way to be convincing is to have a good and compelling reason for the increase. And remember, while that increase was important to you, the law schools don't care. They see the 170 and move on. So, you can't simply say something such as, "I studied hard/better" because that brings up the question of why you didn't do those things the first time, or realize that you hadn't done them after taking the test. You need a compelling reason, or it's better to not write one!
