With the release of the scores from the November Exam, I finally am sitting down to figure out which schools to apply to, but my UGPA is pretty unremarkable as a 3.57 as an Business Economics major, but I managed to score a 178 on the LSAT, with self-study with the PS Bibles.

I wanted to ask some general questions about how to tackle the essays, primarily the Diversity and PS. I've recently become interested in Entertainment Law to work in and help develop the field of Esports, which I think my resume will back up, and one of my letters is from the director from my undergrad's Esports program. As someone native to Hong Kong, I considered discussing the current protests as well but I think that may be too recent/sensitive subject to discuss. Also, I'm not sure if I could discuss that in a Diversity Statement, as aside from being a first-generation immigrant and being relatively impoverished for our first decade here, I feel I've been privileged with a pretty comfortable growing up with a strong family upbringing.

Also since I scored a lot higher than I expected (averaged 168-172 PTs) I am thinking of shooting my shot at some of the T14s though I'm not sure whether or not it would be worth it with my GPA being that low.

Thanks in advance!

Hi bpag!

Congrats on a great LSAT score! Now comes the fun of actually applying!

I'm going to start by pointing you toward some resources we have available to help you with your application:

This is our free law school admissions help site. There's a ton of great articles and videos on it about helping you decide where to apply to law school, writing a great personal statement (including examples!), and basically everything you need to know about making a great application. I personally recommend Dave's Personal Statement Seminar and Law School Essay Examples, Before and After (under Applying to Law School), the segments on Personal Statements and Supplemental Essays (under Law School Application Primers), and the Creating a Killer Law School Application guide.
https://www.powerscore.com/lsat/law-sch ... ions/help/

And here's a blog post to help you decide whether and what to write in an optional essay/diversity statement:

You've got a great LSAT score so absolutely shoot your shot with some of the T14s. Yale might be a bit of a stretch (it is for most!) but look at the median GPAs and LSAT scores of other top schools. Admissions are highly variable so it's tough to know your exact chances at those top schools but if you can swing the application fee, it's worth trying at a few, especially if you can put together strong essays, letters of recommendations, etc.

Hope this helps! Good luck with your applications!

Best,
Kelsey
