Hello everyone!

As I am working on applications I am having a bit of trouble with the "education" part. There was a class I took in high school where I got college credit from a college in my state. I have my transcript from this school uploaded on LSAC. Applications are asking me for the "start and end date" for this institution. What do I put as I never actually attended this institution?

It doesn't seem like I should put the year I took this in high school, but maybe that is correct? I had difficulty officially receiving the credit from this school due to issues with their admin department, so I didn't *truly* get the credit on my transcript (of the college I actually attended) until a year into my undergrad. The secondary school's transcript says "summer 2016" is when I received the credit. Do I say June-August 2016 then?

This is baffling me, any thoughts greatly appreciated!

Hi graham0220!

You write,

Yes, given your situation, this sounds like it makes the most sense! A situation like AP credits, for example, would seem to be something that would squarely fall into high school rather than college (even then, there will still usually be a notation on the college transcript for the AP credits). The June-August dates are what seem to be corroborated by the transcript itself since it says "Summer 2016." I'd recommend sending it in, and either LSAC will process it or you'll notice that it doesn't get added with your other transcripts; at that point, you can always reach out to them.

Recalling my own law school applications, I had a study abroad experience at another university that was reflected on my undergrad transcript, but I also had a transcript sent over to LSAC directly from the university where I was a visiting student--I don't remember if this other transcript ended up being reflected on my account with my other transcripts, but it didn't hurt to send it in.

Building off of this, do I need to include somewhere that this credit/time period was from high school?

Also, if I have a GPA listed from the school as 3.47 but LSAC has it at 3.48, which one do I include in the education section?

Thanks!

Actually no. You don't have to clarify that separately because it will be somewhat clear to them (and not all that important).

Thanks!

Just to confirm - does this mean we should use the LSAC GPA on the education section of apps? Should we also put this GPA on our resume instead as well? Thanks!

Yes. Unless there's a major discrepancy caused by reworking "retaken grades," which can cause large differences, the LSAC GPA is what will be on the Master Report.
