Hi,

As the title suggests I have some pretty odd stats: 175+ LSAT & a GPA between 3.0 and 3.3. I worked a lot in undergrad (25-30hours a week) to pay my way through school and hence my GPA. I come from a lower-income background and so I’m looking for advice on whether I should even bother applying to any T14? Application fees are expensive and I don’t qualify for an LSAC fee waiver. I’ve tried admissions chances calculators to get an idea of where i should apply, but my “chances” all seem super inflated and I don’t really trust them (especially after having difficulty finding URMs on LSN with my same stats). Help?

Hi Saul!

Congratulations on a great LSAT score! It's impossible for us to accurately predict your chances when the admissions process itself can be highly variable and there are so many factors at play. I totally get not wanting to waste your time and money on applying to a school that you may not have a realistic chance of getting into. But with an LSAT score like that, seems like you should at least give it a shot! In your applications, include an addendum to explain your lower GPA and why it's not reflective of what you'll be able to do in law school. Spend a lot of time crafting a great personal statement. Do a diversity statement too! These non-numeric pieces of your application are super important and can help you overcome any disadvantage you may have because of your lower GPA.

Here's a blog post with some number crunching about URM LSATs and GPAs at specific schools that you may find helpful:

Hope this helps! Good luck!

Best,
Kelsey
