Hi! To start, I am not the most competitive applicant. I have a 3.63 GPA and an LSAT score of 165. I do, however, have an unconventional and interesting background. I have been a professional dancer since my teenage years and have toured all over the world with some of the biggest artists. One of my letters of recommendation is from Katy Perry. By no means am I providing this information to talk myself up, I am just trying to paint an accurate picture of where I stand and how my background could compensate for my not so competitive academic standing. That being said, I know I need to have my applications in early given that most schools have rolling admissions. I obviously want to apply as early as possible, but I don’t want to rush and I still need an ample amount of time to finish my applications. My earliest deadline is February 1st for UCLA (my top choice). Given all of the above information pertaining to where I stand as an applicant, when is the latest I should have my applications in by?

Thank you very much for your time and ongoing advice.

Hi Foti!

It's difficult to say when the absolute latest you should have your application in by is since there are many factors that influence the entire application process. My advice is, if possible, to try to have your application in by early November. But, as you noted, you want to submit as strong of an application as possible. So make sure that when you do submit, you have a well crafted personal statement that fully illuminates your unconventional background, how it will be an asset to you in law school and as a lawyer, why UCLA Law is a great fit for you, etc. So get to work on those application elements ASAP!
