I would like to start law school so for one semester I can say 'I am in law school' then drop out only because I can't afford it. Would I need a scholarship to do it? Whats the cheapest law school in Southern Cali?

Hi Mina,

That seems like a pretty strange and expensive plan, as well one that is time-consuming, but it is your life :-D

Public schools are often cheaper than private schools, and thus in SoCal your cheapest option (assuming you are a California resident) would seem to be UCLA. But, all law schools are now pretty expensive, and in major metropolitan areas that public school advantage often disappears. That's the case in LA, and all of them are about $45k or up. Here's a selection of schools:

UCLA: http://www.law.ucla.edu/prospective-stu ... fault.aspx

USC: http://weblaw.usc.edu/how/gip/mcl/fees.cfm

Southwestern: http://www.swlaw.edu/studentservices/finaid/tuition

Pepperdine: http://law.pepperdine.edu/financial-ass ... ttendance/

If you don't mind me asking, what's the value of you being able to say "I am in law school" ?

Thanks!
