Hi PowerScore,
A quick question on the personal statement. One of the schools I'm applying to is asking me to address "why them" specifically in my personal statement. Incidentally, this is my first choice school. Is it appropriate to tell them that they are in fact my first choice school and list the reasons why? Or should I just go into specific reasons why I want to go there without mentioning "firs choice"? I want to be truthful but obviously not come across as though I'm "pleading".

Thanks!

Hi Nadia,

If they are indeed your first choice school, there's no reason not to tell them that :) That indicates to them that if they accept you, you are a lock to attend. and presuming the reason you cite are valid, they will be able to see that you are genuine in your desire to go to school there, and they won't think you are pleading.

Good luck with the writing!
