Question- does a low LSAT greatly impact your chances of getting accepted even if you submit a much higher second score?

Agreed, I feel like I bombed this test and would do fine on another attempt (at least, obtain a score necessary for my safe schools) but I don't necessarily want to cancel my score because of the admissions timeline. I am worried that if I turn in an application for my safe school with a lower LSAT from December, will I be denied even if I bring my score in February up?

Hi A,

The good great news here is that your low score has no impact at all. See Should You Retake the LSAT? Admissions Experts Agree: Yes! for more info on why that is the case.

These days, law schools only care about the high score because that's the one they report. And, the know if you can go out and get a certain score, then you have that ability. The myth that a low score holds you back persists because int he old days, it did. Law schools were previously using your average score, so posting a low score was a problem. they now longer use the average, and only report the high score, so they don't care any more :-D

Please let me know if that helps. Thanks!

Hey Frank,

No, you won't be denied, and you can make sure that's the case by letting the law schools know that you have another score coming. They get updates, but sending a quick note to them indicating your strong interest and the fact that you are retaking the LSAT will make sure they don't pass premature judgment on you.

Thanks!
