I put A for enthusiastic support, but I think I was associating how the author talked about cosmopolitanism with how the author talked about nativism.

Is this true? That the author had enthusiastic support support for cosmopolitanism but only general approval for nativism?

He had general support for both, landphil. The overall idea of the passage was the need to balance nativism and cosmopolitanism. The author is not particularly enthusiastic about either one on its own. It's the combination of the two that makes the literature in question rich and beautiful. The author advocates for reconciling the two views, not for passionately advocating for one over the other.

Hope that helps!
