Hi schocktherapy!

There won't be questions on the LSAT that ask for the definition of what a necessary assumption, contrapositive, etc. is. That is, you won't see a question abstractly asking something like, "What is a necessary assumption?" Instead, you will see questions with similar wording but they are grounded in the stimulus, such as, "What is an assumption on which this argument depends?" It may be helpful to know what a necessary assumption is to arrive at the correct answer, but the answer choice won't just be a definition of a necessary assumption--rather, it will be an assumption specifically made in the argument.

Similarly, the right answer choice in, for example, a must be true question might be a contrapositive of a piece of conditional reasoning in the stimulus. The answer choice won't be defining what a contrapositive is, but knowing what a contrapositive is/how to diagram it will be very helpful for arriving at the correct answer.
