Hi Maria,
The text of the passage that's useful in answering this question is on lines 5 through 15. This area of the passage specifically notes in a discussion of channel flow diversion that "quantity discounts from manufacturers may motivate" gray marketing. In other words, the fact that producers give a discount to manufacturers who buy in bulk may motivate those manufacturers to turn around and re-sell the goods at the higher market price.
Answer choice (C) tells us that if producers stopped giving discounts to manufacturers, they wouldn't be able to make a profit by re-selling those goods. This is essentially a re-statement of what's in the passage. This is precisely the kind of answer we are looking for on the Reading Comp section.
Answer choice (D) discusses pre- and post-sale service, which is a topic discussed in the context of parallel importing and trademark owners. For answer choice (D) to be correct, we need to be able to find direct support for this idea in the passage itself. While the passage discusses how post-sale service is part of a company's goodwill, it doesn't give us direct support for how giving manufacturers control over the post-sale services would impact gray marketing.
In sum, if you can't find direct, clear support for an answer choice in the passage, you can set it aside.
Good luck studying!
