The other day I was asked to add some questions related to the Circular Linearity discussion on pages 473-485. So, here they are!

Circular Linearity Mini-Drill
Allow yourself approximately 5 minutes to complete all 4 questions. Answers at lsat/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=13837.
  • Eight students—A, B, C, D, E, F, G, and H—are each seated around a circular table with eight seats. Each student sits in exactly one seat, and each seat is filled by exactly one student. The seating arrangement must conform to the following limitations:
..... A and B are seated exactly opposite of one another.
..... C and D are seated next to each other.
..... F and G are not seated next to each other.
  • 1. Which one of the following could be the order in which the students are seated around the table?

    (A) A, C, D, H, B, G, F, E
    (B) A, C, E, F, B, D, G, H
    (C) A, D, C, G, B, E, H, F
    (D) A, E, B, C, D, F, H, G
    (E) A, F, D, C, B, G, H, F

    (A) A is seated next to H.
    (B) C is seated next to H.
    (C) F is seated next to H.
    (D) E and F are not seated next to each other.
    (E) G and H are not seated next to each other.
  • 3. If C and E are seated exactly opposite of one another, which one of the following must be true?

    (A) A and E are not seated next to each other.
    (B) B and C are not seated next to each other.
    (C) C and H are not seated next to each other.
    (D) D and E are not seated next to each other.
    (E) D and F are not seated next to each other.
  • 4. If E and F are seated next to each other, which one of the following could be true?

    (A) C and E are seated next to each other.
    (B) C and F are seated next to each other.
    (C) D and F are seated next to each other.
    (D) E and G are seated next to each other.
    (E) G and H are seated next to each other.

If anyone wants to try a fun exercise, create your own question and add it below (and then add your answer key answer on the Answer Key thread linked above). If you really want to get a handle on how circular games work, nothing beats making your own questions like this!
