Hi,

I'm working on my law school applications right now and am a bit confused with the resume aspect. Most schools would only like a page and some are okay with more. I have been out of college for a little over a year now and the resume I'd been using to apply to jobs is 2 pages long and includes: education, professional experience (internships/jobs in and after college), leadership experience (from undergrad), academic research, and an additional skills section. As of now, it's 2 pages with wide margins and 10 pt font.

Most of the things I've done are not understandable by just the title alone, so they require some explanation. I've tried to cut my resume down to one page but it just isn't working. :hmm: What should I do? Are there any good law school resume templates to use? Or any other resources?

Thanks for all your help!

Hi Badarm,

The resume format is pretty standard at one page unless you have a really deep job history. For most recent college grads, that means one page is what they expect; it's usually only people who have had long careers with multiple companies that can get away with multiple page resumes. For you, this means that it is very likely that two pages won't be justified. The way around that, then, is smaller fonts and more concise descriptions. Cram it in, if you have to!

Any chance you can give me an example of what you are talking about that wouldn't make sense if it was shorter?

Thanks!
