For parallel reasoning questions, do the levels of certainty in the premises of the correct answer need to match that of the stimulus, or is it only the levels of certainty in the conclusion that need to match?

Also, does the certainty of the language need to match between the stimulus and the correct answer in both the premises and the conclusion or just the conclusion?

(And this goes for both flawed and valid arguments?)

Thanks!

Hi hkanter,

Generally speaking for Parallel questions, the levels of certainty in each of the premises need to match, just like they need to match in the conclusions. And to your second and third questions, yes, the match should be present for all premises and the conclusion, in both Parallel Reasoning AND Parallel Flaw questions.

Understand that while this is a general rule, there are occasional circumstances where parts of the arguments may deviate slightly in certainty between the stimulus and the correct answer. But ordinarily this test is a very good starting point when it comes to sorting answer choices.

I hope this helps!
