Hello,

Could someone please explain why C is right? I don't know why I chose A when there's only one sentence mentioning the government and nothing in terms of funding concerning popularity :/ I think C is right because in paragraph two it mentions how there are questions surrounding the kinds of debates they should have and later says how these disagreements "resulted in a wide range of productions reflecting the diverse views and interests of the African American community."

Thank you,
Tal

Hi Tal,

It looks like you've basically answered your own question, so great job!

As you mention, there is no support for Answer A in the passage. While the passage mentions that the Federal Theater Project lasted only 4 years, no information is provided for why it ended, so there is no indication that it's ending had anything to do with the popularity of the plays.

The lines that you cite to support Answer C are exactly correct. The debates/disagreements over what types of plays the Negro Units should produce and what the goals for these plays were (i.e. "philosophical and aesthetic disagreements") "resulted in a wide range of productions reflecting the diverse views and interests of the African American community" (lines 42-44).
