Setup and Rule Diagram Explanation

This is an Advanced Linear: Balanced, Identify the Templates game.

The game scenario and first rule establish the following Advanced Linear scenario:

The second rule creates a sequence:

This rule creates several Not Laws: G cannot pilot the first two flights, and F cannot pilot the last two flights. We will hold off on diagramming those Not Laws, and instead consider the other rules first.

The third rule assigns K, a pilot, to flight 2:

When this rule is combined with the second rule, a powerful inference can made: F must pilot flight 1. From the second rule, F cannot pilot the last two flights, and from the third rule K pilots the second flight. Thus, only flight 1 is available for F, leaving G and L to pilot flights 3 and 4:

The fourth rule creates a vertical block with U and L:

The placement options for this block are limited. Because L must pilot flight 3 or 4, U must co-pilot flight 3 or 4. Adding that information to the diagram, as well as the fact that co-pilots R, S, and T are randoms, results in the final diagram for the game:
