I find this question particularly confusing. I didnt find a good answer. I chose the right answer not because it seemed right but because it seemed least wrong. I do not understand what 'has not been fully investigated' mean. In some sense, any theory can be said to be controversal because it s not been fully investigated, but where does the stem specify that was what had happened?

The last paragraph tells us that the hypothesis is weak, quan-tang@hotmail.com, and then lists the reasons why it is weak. One of those reasons is "The impact of debt on environmental indicators such as pollution or depletion of other resources has not yet been studied." That's the support for answer B! A lack of study into the issue is part of the problem with the hypothesis, as opposed to one that had been extensively studied but the findings were inconclusive.

There were other reasons for the controversy, such as conflicting data and the possibility of other explanations. But this question just asked for one of the reasons, and a lack of study, aka not fully investigated, is on that list.
