Hi,

I am not too happy with my october lsat scores and am considering the december lsat. I wanted to know if the december lsat puts actually puts me at a significant disadvantage (because of rolling admissions), and if I should turn in my applications now, or wait until I have my december lsat scores....

Thank you!

Hi Kent,

You ask a good question. In the overall balance of things, your LSAT score outweighs putting in your application earlier. So, the short answer is that if you can improve your LSAT score by 3 or more points, it's better to wait to apply.

On the application side, what I'd recommend is that you have your apps fully completed by mid-December, so that when your December LSAT score arrives, your application automatically goes to the Admissions committee. It also may ease your mind to check out this article I posted on our blog a few months ago: http://blog.powerscore.com/lsat/bid/284 ... y-is-early. It breaks down what an early application really is, and even by waiting for the December LSAT scores you can still be in the first 40% of all applicants.

So, if you are seriously thinking about the December LSAT and feel you can post a higher score, take that route. the first thing that happens at most law schools is they take your LSAT score and undergraduate GPA and run them through an index formula to rank you, and anything you can do to get a higher index score will outweigh putting your apps in two months earlier.

Please let me know if that helps. Thanks!
