Hi,

I am having a hard time spotting the flaw, "Lack of Relevant Evidence for the Conclusion," as well "Error in Force." I understand the concepts well, but don't always 'see' them as clearly as I do, with say, 'ad hominem,' or any of the other more obvious flaws. I was wondering if someone can provide some examples of these two flaws (aside from those in the book), or provide me with test questions I can look up. I welcome any other general tips you may have in spotting these flaws.

Thanks

Rob

Hey Rob,

That's a good question; it can be very helpful to see examples of various flaws so that you can make sure you understand them, and to help ensure that you will quickly recognize them if you happen to see any of them on test day. Here are a few examples of questions with Errors in Assessing the Force of Evidence:

LSAT 11, LR Section 2, Question #3: Food Irradiation

LSAT 16, LR Section 2, Question #2: Extraterrestrial Life

LSAT 31, LR Section 2, Question #1: Claims about ESP

LSAT 68, LR Section 1, Question #7: Ginseng

...and here are some examples of questions with a General Lack of Evidence:

LSAT 12: LR Section 1, Question #18: Lightning Rods

LSAT 66, LR Section 1, Question #15: Cynical Journalists

Others on the forum might have some favorite examples of these flaws as well; in the meanwhile, take a look at some of the questions above, and let us know whether they are clear, or if we can answer any questions--thanks!

I hope that's helpful!
