Hi,

I ultimately chose C (which turned out to be correct), although I was stuck between both C and D for potential answers. Is D incorrect because it says that predation by Typhlodromus is "essential" to controlling cyclamen mite populations, which I would call rather strong language?

Best,

That's definitely one problem with answer D, Romaisa , but not the only one. Consider this: the passage really isn't all about mites and strawberries, is it? That's just a "case in point," as the author said back at the beginning of the passage, to illustrate a larger concept, which is that "Sometimes there is no more effective means of controlling an agricultural pest than giving free rein to its natural predators." So the main point answer shouldn't only be about the mites, but about how they demonstrate that larger concept. Answer D is both too strong, as you said, but also too narrow in its focus to accurately reflect the bigger idea that the author seeks to convey to the reader.
